"I use these shelves in my garage. They hold large and heavy items very well. The quality was the best that I found. The price wasn't much higher than other inferior shelves. I bought 3 units at first. I decided 4 shelves per rack would better fit my needs. I would have given 5 stars if an add-on package was available with only a single stanchion. I could have bought 4 add on kits to get the 3 connected racks with 4 shelves each that I desired without the 4 extra stanchions. My brother "the collector/recycler" took the extras and made some make-shift racks of his own. So all is good."

Gorilla Shelves, April 22, 2008
By Charlotte75 from Charlotte, NC (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

"This product is made by Gorilla Shelves and is extremely versatile. This model did not tie into the older model I already use, but is just as strong. I bought three sets and configured them as a 6' wide by 9' tall shelving system. The units come with clips for tieing units together side by side, and you can raise the corner posts in 3' increments for as high as your space will allow. I elected to paint the press board shelves before assembly as I had an issue with mold growing on press board in a very humid environment. I haven't had any problems since painting so I took the preventive measure this time around."

Look no further for shelving!
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 / 5

Comments about Gorilla Rack® Shelving Unit/Workbench:

I've owned multiple shelves over the past decade, some intended for Offices, some intended for workshops, but the Gorilla Name _MATTERS_ I recently got a shelving unit SIMILAR to this model, but it just didn't compare, the metal braces were flimsy, it was a bit wobbly. The Gorilla racks are near indestructible. I've had to assemble and disassemble them probably about 15 times, either moving or reconfiguring them, other than a dent where I used a normal hammer (a dumb move, Rubber mallet only) they still look brand new, only the boards themselves look a little worn, and that was due to the environment they were stored in. I can't suggest these enough, I'm looking to buy three more!

Pros:
Sturdy, Easy To Install, Wide Enough Shelves, Holds Items Well
Best Uses:
Computer Shelf, Space Saver, Garage
Describe Yourself:
Handyman, Renter

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have at least 6 of these. I use one set for computers and phonograph equipment which must be stable. The others have boxes of heavy books and magazines and never show a sign of overloading. The shelves are easy to adjust (but loud - wear earplugs).[...] Great product.

Pros:
Easy To Install, Holds Items Well, Sturdy, Wide Enough Shelves
Best Uses:
Basement, Garage
Describe Yourself:
Handyman, Homeowner
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought my first Gorilla rack about 18 years ago. I have since added about 24 to my house, garage, and workshop. The assembly does take a bit of getting used to - be sure to use a rubber mallet and a hard, flat surface. They are super sturdy and durable. I recommend Gorilla Racks to anybody.

Best Uses:
Bedroom, Garage, Workshop
